USK Foundation Delegates Meet Fiji’s Lands Minister at UNEA6 in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya – Delegates of the USK Foundation met with His Excellency Filimoni Wainiqolo Vosarogo, Minister of Lands and Mineral Resources of Fiji, during the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-6).

The assembly was convened by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

This diplomatic meeting provided a meaningful opportunity to address critical issues related to sustainable land management, responsible mineral resource development, and environmental protection in the Pacific island context. Discussions focused on the unique vulnerabilities of small island developing states to climate change, sea-level rise, and ecosystem degradation, as well as strategies for integrating sustainable practices in land and resource governance.

The engagement highlighted the importance of international solidarity and knowledge-sharing to support resilient development pathways that balance economic needs with long-term environmental stewardship.

Such high-level interactions reinforce multilateral cooperation and contribute to global efforts in safeguarding fragile ecosystems and promoting equitable, sustainable resource management worldwide.

The USK Foundation remains committed to active participation in leading United Nations environmental assemblies, forging valuable partnerships, and advancing collaborative solutions for planetary sustainability and resilience.
