USK Foundation Engages with Norway’s Minister of Climate and Environment at UNEA6 in Nairobi

Nairobi, Kenya
 – At UNEA6, USK Foundation delegates met with His Excellency Andreas Bjelland Eriksen, Norway’s Minister of Climate and Environment, to discuss the United Ancient Nations (UAN) initiative.

The dialogue centered on applying Norway’s expertise in climate adaptation to Kenya’s urgent environmental crisis. Minister Eriksen highlighted the record-breaking Arctic warming and glacier melt in Norway, a challenge mirrored by the rapid disappearance of Mount Kenya’s glaciers, which are projected to vanish by 2030.

The USK Foundation presented UAN’s vision for adapting Norwegian conservation models to Kenya’s Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASALs), which currently face devastating cycles of drought and flooding. By bridging the “Norway experience”—from indigenous land rights to advanced ecosystem policy—with Kenyan grassroots action, the foundation aims to secure water and food safety for millions.

This meeting underscores a shared commitment to global planetary well-being, leveraging cross-continental partnerships to protect biodiversity and build climate resilience in the Global South.
