Kampala, Uganda – Strengthening cross-border cooperation for marginalized communities, delegates from the USK Foundation held a high-level consultative meeting with Hon. Davinia Esther Anyakun, Uganda’s Minister of State for Employment and Industrial Relations.
The discussion focused on the strategic alignment between the United Ancient Nations (UAN) mission and Hon. Anyakun’s mandate to foster sustainable employment and social protection. As a leader hailing from the Karamoja subregion—an area with deep indigenous roots—Hon. Anyakun provided unique insights into how traditional heritage can be integrated into modern economic empowerment frameworks.
Key themes of the engagement included:
- Dignified Labour & Livelihoods: The USK Foundation presented its Entrepreneurship & Livelihood Frameworks, discussing how UAN’s global models can be adapted to create sustainable jobs for youth and women in marginalized regions like Karamoja and Kenya’s ASALs.
- From Disaster to Development: Drawing on the Minister’s previous experience in Relief and Disaster Preparedness, the delegates explored how the Foundation’s preparatory work in food security and housing can build long-term community resilience against climate shocks.
- Digital Empowerment: Discussions centered on the Foundation’s USD 22,750+ investment in digital tools, exploring how these resources can bridge the “skills gap” for indigenous populations entering the modern industrial workforce.
By partnering with seasoned regional leaders like Hon. Anyakun, the USK Foundation continues to expand its role as a facilitator for United Ancient Nations in East Africa. This engagement underscores a shared commitment to restoring dignity and self-reliance, ensuring that as the region develops, no community—regardless of its geographic or cultural background—is left behind in the pursuit of economic stability.
