Today, March 16 marks a historic milestone as the United Ancient Enlightened Indigenous Nations (UAN) enters into bilateral relations with the Tororo Municipal Council of the Republic of Uganda. This partnership emphasizes shared values and joint commitment to holistic health, education initiatives including eradicating illiteracy, addressing social issues such as teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence against women and girls, and other community welfare priorities.
Tororo Municipality joins the growing worldwide network of communities benefiting from UAN’s three decades of impactful humanitarian services, grassroots empowerment programs, and dedication to sustainable well-being. We extend our deep gratitude to the leadership of Tororo Municipal Council—especially to Hon. Kenneth Orono Nyapidi, the Municipality Mayor—for making this friendly and mutually beneficial partnership a reality.
Tororo Municipality, located in the Eastern part of Uganda bordering Western Kenya, serves as a key entry and exit point to Uganda. It functions as the main municipal, administrative, and commercial center of Tororo District.
The primary economic activities include small-scale business and subsistence farming, which employs 21.6% of the approximately 43,000 residents. Major crops grown by local farmers include maize, yams, and millet, alongside livestock farming. Tororo is also home to three cement factories, making it the largest cement producer in Uganda.
The municipality is renowned for housing some of East Africa’s oldest and most respected secondary schools, including Tororo Girls School and St. Peter’s College.
A major tourist attraction is Tororo Rock—a striking natural rock outcrop that dominates the town’s skyline. This geological wonder features impressive caves and a variety of ancient rock paintings, showcasing the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

This bilateral relationship between Tororo Municipal Council and UAN opens a new chapter of collaboration, cultural exchange, education, health, and sustainable community development, fostering mutual growth, empowerment, and shared prosperity for the people of Tororo and beyond.
