Nairobi, Kenya – In a milestone engagement for indigenous-led climate action, the USK Foundation was honored with a special invitation from the Office of the First Lady, Her Excellency Mama Rachel Ruto, to present a strategic vision for planetary well-being during the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA6).
The high-level session, hosted by the First Lady at the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters, brought together global leaders to discuss actionable implementation frameworks for a sustainable planet. Standing in solidarity with the First Lady, delegates from the USK Foundation presented the United Ancient Nations (UAN) Strategic Roadmap, a comprehensive guide to restoring ecological balance by integrating ancient indigenous sciences with modern conservation efforts.
Key Highlights of the Presentation:
- A Strategic Roadmap: The USK Foundation outlined a clear implementation plan that prioritizes “Nature-First” development, drawing from proven models used across 136 indigenous communities globally.
- Special Invitation: The inclusion of USK Foundation by the First Lady’s office underscores the growing national recognition of indigenous wisdom as a vital pillar in Kenya’s environmental and social protection agenda.
- Commitment to Implementation: The roadmap focused on tangible solutions for biodiversity protection, water security, and sustainable livelihoods, designed to be adapted within the Kenyan context through the Foundation’s established local partnerships.
By participating in this prestigious forum as a guest of the First Lady, the USK Foundation has reinforced its role as a key liaison for the United Ancient Nations. This engagement marks a significant step forward in ensuring that traditional ecological knowledge is not just heard, but is actively implemented as a “gold standard” for a sustainable and dignified future for all.
