Kisumu, Kenya – In a significant move to institutionalize indigenous-led development, the USK Foundation has facilitated and supported a cooperation framework aimed at enhancing the welfare of communities in Kisumu. This milestone was established during a high-level consultative session with the Speaker of the County Assembly, Hon. Elisha Jack Oraro.
The framework is designed to integrate the United Ancient Nations (UAN) models within the county’s development agenda, focusing on creating legislative pathways for youth and women empowerment, indigenous health awareness, and sustainable development. By facilitating this alignment with the County Assembly, the USK Foundation ensures that humanitarian initiatives—such as digital literacy and food security—are supported by the local governance structure, fostering long-term sustainability and cultural dignity for the people of Kisumu.
This initiative reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to the 2010 Constitution, which recognizes culture as the bedrock of the nation. Through this facilitated cooperation, the USK Foundation continues to serve as a vital link between ancient community wisdom and modern governance, ensuring that the marginalized voices of the Lake Victoria region are prioritized in the county’s growth and prosperity.
