Empowering Artisanal Miners: USK Foundation Engages Ministry of Mining to Champion Responsible Development and Community Welfare
Nairobi, Kenya – In a strategic step to uplift grassroots mining communities across the country, delegates from the USK Foundation—acting as the local implementation partner for the United Ancient Nations (UAN)—recently met with Mr. Paul Mirie, Director of Planning and Alternate Director to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Mining within the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs.
The high-level consultative session focused on creating structured, ethical development frameworks designed to restore dignity, boost safety, and provide holistic humanitarian support to Kenya’s Artisanal and Small-Scale Miners (ASMs).

Artisanal Community Empowerment: Deploying targeted socio-economic support programs, including safety training, direct food security assistance, and community nutrition initiatives for miners and their families.
